The Upper Broughton Art Show is open to any artist and is held on the second week of October each year. The art show is the main fund-raising event of the year for the village and, over the years, has gained a dedicated following of both artists and buyers.

We have two rooms in which to display the exhibits and we are keen to encourage art in other media including 3-D pieces such as sculptures. We aim to offer our dedicated followers something different every year.

Free entry to the exhibition and the serving of a wide variety of tasty refreshments throughout the day guarantees to attract the viewing, and hopefully buying, public. All work must be for sale and we usually sell between 20% and 30% of exhibits. Dates for October 2010 are:

 PREVIEW EVENING - FRIDAY 8th OCTOBER 2010 from 7.30pm

 SATURDAY 9th OCTOBER 2010     10am to 5pm

 SUNDAY 10th OCTOBER 2010      10am to 4.30pm

Monetary prizes are awarded to the work judged as the best three in each of two sections: water colours and all other media. The BROUGHTON CUP is awarded to the piece judged as the best in show and the GEORGE HARRIS cup to the winner of the other section. There is an award for the work voted as the most popular by guests at our preview evening. This year we are also introducing an award for the best 3-D work.

Prizes will be awarded before the close of the show on Sunday afternoon. To enter the show work should be delivered to the Village Hall in Upper Broughton on:

WEDNESDAY 6th OCTOBER BETWEEN 2pm AND 6.30pm

Each piece should be labelled with its title and price, the artist’s name, and media section and accompanied by a form (see download), completed with your details.  The fee is £4 per item displayed, maximum of three items per artist. 10% commission is taken for items sold. There is no need to send the form and fee in advance - just bring both when you deliver your work.

Work will be displayed by the organising committee on Thursday 7th, and judging will take place on the Friday. Please note that due to space limitations pictures exceeding 3’ x 2’ or any work that needs more than one person to deliver it may be difficult to accommodate. The rules of the exhibition are available on this website.

The village hall is situated on the A606, the main Nottingham to Melton Mowbray road. It is on the opposite side of the road to the pub, (The Golden Fleece). about 50 yards further down the road towards Melton Mowbray. Map Link

Tickets for the preview evening will be available when you deliver your work. The evening provides a good opportunity to socialise with other artists, as well as prospective buyers. Tickets may be reserved in advance by e-mailing.
